One island, several different stays
Choosing the island is only the first step. A harbour room and a house above a remote cove create very different days. Check the actual walking route to dinner, the beach and your arrival point before booking. On Krk, for example, compare a stay in Krk town with Baška or Vrbnik instead of treating the whole island as one resort.
Give the crossing some breathing room
Our suggestion for three nights is one island and one base. With a longer stay, Cres and Lošinj make a natural pairing because they are linked at Osor. Other island combinations need a closer look at ports and timetables. Keep departure day simple: a ferry crossing, a long drive and a flight leave little room for a change of plan.

Can you reach a Kvarner island without a ferry?
Yes. Krk is connected to the mainland by road bridge. Driving to Cres, Lošinj or Rab requires a ferry crossing; Cres and Lošinj are connected to each other by the bridge at Osor. Passenger-boat options are separate from car-ferry routes.
